Trixie’s Love Stories

Todd and Melisa’s Story

Todd and I had our first Date at Blondies!!

Here’s our story!

I was living in London at the time, it was Halloween, and my best Friend wanted me to come home for a Halloween party at Blondies. Her Boyfriend at the time had a friend and she thought I should meet him!

She finally convinced me to come home. With no costume, my only last minute option was to put on my mom’s wedding dress! Done I was a dead bride! When my friends came to pick me up with “the guy” he was dressed as a private investigator with a creepy moustache!!!

Off we went to Blondies for some Karaoke! Todd and I hit it off that night, and the rest is history.

Together for almost 20 years and married 17 this year. He hasn’t had a moustache since!

Dal and Stick’s Story

This certainly isn’t your classic love story of boy meets girl, boy and girl tackle some monumental challenge then fall madly in love. This is more a love story of two small town kids who stumbled into love and somehow proved everyone wrong and made it work.

Dal and Stick had known each other their entire lives, in fact, Dal had gone along with Bonnie and Steve to meet Stick when he was first born. They both grew up in Ayton and went to school together, sharing many of the same friends from town.

Dal was living in the city going to school and trying her darndest to find greener grass on the other side of the small town life, but failing miserably. She hated the city, so every Thursday once she finished class, she hopped in her moms old minivan and headed North to the greatest place on earth, Ayton Ontario.

Bonnie and Steve’s Story

Trixies Saloon is a magical place. It is the symbol of Ayton, and the place where so many amazing stories begin and end. This is a love story that is very near and dear to my heart, and transpired at 520 Louisa, street, formerly known as Blondies. Before I begin, I would like to remind you all of the epic love story of Rose and Jack Dawson from the Titanic movie. Thankfully this story doesn’t end with “Jack” sinking to the bottom of the ocean, but it is no less a similar tale of true love conquering all.

Blondie had just taken over the bar, so her nieces, Bonnie (Rose) and Brenda decided to leave the big city to support their aunt and see what all the hype was about. They were sitting at a table, sipping on brown cows, when the door flew open and in stumbled Doug Teeter and Steve Davis (Jack Dawson). It wasn’t every day that “fresh meat” came to Ayton, so the local boys eagerly pulled up a chair and called for a round. Bonnie smiled politely and accepted the drink, but not before flashing her ring to the boys admitting that she was engaged and that her fiancée would be arriving soon. This didn’t deter Steve, who kept the rounds coming, all the while attempting to woo this exotic creature with his charm and wit.

Lindsey and Andrew’s Story

Lindsey had always been a city girl. Born and raised in the bustling heart of Hamilton, she had never imagined that her life would take such a twist when she moved to West Grey, Ontario. It was 2017 when she found herself working at Trixie’s Saloon, a quaint little place in this small town where everyone knew each other’s names.

One chilly November evening, as the winds howled and leaves rustled in the quiet streets, Lindsey’s life took an unexpected turn. Andrew, a handsome small-town boy, had just bought a house in Ayton and became a regular at Trixie’s. He often came in with his friends or alone, sitting at the corner table, engrossed in his Masonic lodge workbook. But it wasn’t just his devotion to reading that caught Lindsey’s attention; it was the way he tipped generously every time he came in.

Jim and Rose’s Story

In November 2014, I found myself unexpectedly widowed after 29 years of marriage, a newcomer to Owen Sound, working a fairly new job and living a very lonely lifestyle. With some guidance from some colleagues and friends I accepted a position back with my old employer CKNX in the Hanover Walkerton area. I quickly sold my house and bought a new one in Neustadt with the month of June in between ownerships where I resided in my RV beside the Saugeen River.

Upon my return to the area as I reunited with friends, I let them know that I was ready to start dating. Two of my friends, Betty and Bonny both separately suggested the same women from Mildmay named Rose. Well, Betty wasted no time and set Rose and me up on a blind date with her and her husband at “Trixies”. Rose and I chatted while the introduction couple quickly disappeared. Rose and I enjoyed the evening sun, the wings and a couple of drinks on the patio, but most of all, amazing conversation…just like we were old friends. I knew right then that this was going to be something special…I found love!

Zade & Chelsey’s Story

Zade & Chelsey met at karaoke! At Trixie’s Saloon (formerly known as Blondies) in Ayton, late November 2013. Zade was with “the group of 3” – his karaoke buddies, and Chelsey was with a group of friends from work who were just starting to become regulars.

The bartender (Trish!) came over to Chelsey’s table and asked if there were any single ladies. Chelsey raised her hand. Trish said, “What do you think of that guy?” and pointed over to Zade… In his tough duck overalls and red Milwaukee toque, drinking beer right from the pitcher and a “Movember” beard (Zade was 23 and this was the end of November… you can only imagine). Chelsey said “Yeah, sure, give him my number. Let’s see what happens!”

Chelsey had just started asking her friends to set her up after taking a long, much needed break from dating. She figured the worst thing that could happen would be a bad date! She had been on those before. And since she had just been asking her friends to set her up, didn’t this feel kind of like fate? It did to her! Zade called the next day.
